There's something that's been bugging me for some time now, which wasn't really a huge issue until I saw "Paranormal Activity". During that screening we were seated about the 4th or 5th row up in the stadium section of the seats, so we had a very good view of the entire screen, not too close and not too far away... perfect. So during the movie I'm going along for the ride when suddenly right as the scene changes there's a quick flash of red dots on the screen right where I'm looking at. It takes
So my birthday was last Saturday and I celebrated a day early by traveling to our fair capital: Lincoln, NE. I met up with my good friend Jason (jaybone on here) and we caught the late afternoon matinee of "Zombieland" and later that night to truly ring in my birthday we saw the midnight screening of "Paranormal Activity".
A Quick Note: For the one or two of you who have read my blogs, I think it's pretty
I was able to treat myself to a double feature recently. This is something that happens only once in a great while, and it almost never involves an actual theater. It usually means staying up really late at home with headphones on so the noise doesn't wake the kids. Pandorum - Cliched, derivative, boring, and lacking anything original
The Shortcut - You can listen to my review of this film in Genrefinity Podcast #18. The only thing that I left out of that review is the effect the killer had on me during those last 15-20 minutes of the film. I always hear about people going to see films and laughing at serious parts. I don't mean the defense mechanism some people use to ease the tension during things that truly scare them. I'm talking about something happening on screen which the director had every intention of being scary,
End of the Line - Sometimes independant filmmakers create something that is truly better than 90% of the stuff backed by a large (or even a small) studio. This is just such a film. It's a riff on religious dogma, closet paranoia, and what it takes to survive a hopeless situation. Truly, the less you know about this film going in the better. Hats off to Maurice Devereaux for crafting an excellent little film, I highly reccomend it.
Laid to Rest - A great indie slasher flick that
