When Horror Films Just Don't Cut It

by Tony H on 02-03-2010 at 05:16 PM
If you are anything like me, then todays crop of horror films just don't pack enough of a wallop to stop you in your tracks.

Once in a great while we are given the proverbial bone with films like The Descent, The Strangers, Session 9 (see REtroVIEWS under the Reviews tab) and, even to an extent, the remake of The Hills Have Eyes.

Let's face facts though people, it is difficult to get scared at the multiplex these days with slick and glossy films of no substance. Sure,

Does Netflix Instant Queue Hate Horror?

by Tony H on 12-08-2009 at 01:25 PM
I love Netflix. I love the fact that I can check out "Rachel Getting Married" and keep it out for almost a year and never pay a late fee for not returning it.

Recently, in an effort to expand my knowledge, I joined a paranormal investigation team here in

Halloween II Tricks in Lieu of Treats

by Tony H on 09-08-2009 at 03:28 PM
There Be Minor Spoilers:

This weekend past I took in a double feature of Halloween II and The Final Destination.

The latter I expected to be crap simply because it is a Final destination film. I expected a lot of gore and creative deaths and I got what I expected. I did not expect a riveting story and sharp dialogue and acting. FD4 did not disappoint in this sense. It was what it was, an enjoyable 3D gimmick.

Halloween II was the biggest disappointment

Experiencing Movies, Not Just Watching Them

by Tony H on 06-16-2009 at 12:10 PM
The Movie Going Experience

In this modern era of cinema, we gauge our entertainment dollar by the special effects, action, and even the runtime. Gone are the days of the 80 minute film as most folks refuse to slap down thirteen plus dollars for a film running under two hours.

When we as consumers shell out our hard earned dollars for entertainment, we expect to be entertained. The studios know this and as a result they shell out big advertising dollars to make the shiniest,
